I’m looking for an Excel-based tool that brings together my entire bill-of-materials process for steel and STAINLESS STEEL jobs, then flows straight into fabrication scheduling and cost reporting. The workbook should let me SELECT FROM drop down menus—Structural steel, plates and flats, pipes and fittings, stainless steel pipes and fittings. dimensions, and quantity—then automatically calculate material requirements, weight, and total cost. From there, I need separate cost columns for workshop labour, site labour, and any other processes I add, all rolling up into a clear project total. On the scheduling side, I want to assign each line-item or assembly to a start date, duration, and workstation so I can see at a glance what’s in the queue and spot clashes before they happen. Inventory tracking isn’t critical right now; the focus is sharp cost calculations and a practical production timetable. Deliverables • A clean, unlocked Excel workbook with formulas, named ranges, and structured tables that are easy for me to extend. • One summary dashboard showing total material cost, labour cost split by category, and a simple timeline or calendar view of fabrication activities. • Brief documentation explaining key formulas and where to adjust rates or add new labour/process columns.
