Can you help us design an affordable, professional six-display architecture that can operate as one canvas, multiple zones, or independent displays? We are looking for an experienced audiovisual systems designer or multi-display/video-wall specialist to help design a small six-display prototype environment. This is a remote consulting design request, not an installation project. Our goal is to develop an affordable 3 × 2 display environment capable of supporting two primary operating modes: 1. Unified Display Mode — Six displays operating together as one large visual workspace. 2. Independent/Grouped Display Mode — Six displays operating independently or in configurable groups, with different applications and information displayed across the environment. **Please see attached image. We would like the AV specialist to recommend an initial architecture covering: - Recommended display size/type and minimum specifications. - Recommended computer/GPU configuration capable of supporting six displays. - Required video outputs, adapters, docking hardware, processors, or controllers. - Options for switching between one large visual canvas and independent display zones. - Video-wall processor versus GPU/software-based approaches, including advantages and disadvantages. - Mounting approach for a 3 × 2 prototype wall. - Recommended cabling and connectivity. - Power and basic infrastructure considerations. - Software/control approaches for saving and recalling different display layouts. - Potential future integration with APIs, automation, or AI-based commands. - Basic bill of materials with estimated component costs. - Simple architecture/signal-flow diagram showing how the system should connect. - Recommendations for scaling the prototype into larger professional video-wall or control-room environments. We are intentionally trying to keep the first prototype affordable and practical. We are not looking to purchase or design an enterprise command-center solution at this stage. The ideal consultant will have experience with one or more of the following: AVIXA CTS / CTS-D, video walls, control rooms, multi-display visualization, NVIDIA Mosaic, AMD Eyefinity, AV-over-IP, video-wall processors, Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Datapath, VuWall, or similar professional AV technologies. Certification is helpful but not mandatory if you can demonstrate significant hands-on design experience. We are looking for a concise design package rather than a complete engineering project: 1. Recommended system architecture. 2. Basic signal-flow diagram. 3. Hardware/BOM recommendations. 4. Approximate prototype budget. 5. Key design risks, limitations, and considerations. 6. 30 minute friendly virtual review to walk through the recommendation and answer questions. When responding, please briefly describe a multi-display, video-wall, control-room, or visualization system you have personally designed and identify the specific technologies you used.

Hi, Primary risk is GPU timing, sync and heat when driving six displays as a single 3 × 2 canvas and the cost jump from a dedicated video-wall processor versus a GPU+software approach. I have delivered complex systems including a mission-critical tax filing system and a payroll API integration and have multiple projects designing multi-display and control-room layouts following AVIXA CTS / CTS-D practices. That background informs practical tradeoffs for Unified Display Mode and Independent/Grouped Display Mode where bezel compensation, EDID management and input switching must be explicit. Recommendation summary: use 6 identical 55-65" commercial-grade 4K displays with low-bezel profile and 350-500 nit brightness for mixed lighting. For compute, a workstation with either a multi-output GPU (NVIDIA RTX A4000 or equivalent) plus MST/DisplayPort hubs or a small form-factor server with two GPUs if you need independent GPU contexts per display. Consider a hardware video-wall processor (entry-level) only if you need ultra-low-latency pixel-perfect scaling; otherwise use GPU + software controller (Datapath, Userful, or similar) for cost efficiency. Adapters: active DP-to-HDMI where needed, DisplayPort 1.4 trunks, and managed KVM or matrix switch for source switching. Mounting: VESA-compatible planar mount with column rails and a shallow service gap. Power: dedicated circuits, UPS per rack, and local PDU with per-outlet monitoring. Provide a basic BOM with component ranges (displays $400–1200 each, GPU/workstation $1500–6000, cabling/mounts $800–1500, optional processor $3000+). Include a simple signal-flow diagram showing sources, GPU/controller, matrix, and displays. Plan APIs for automation via REST from the controller software. My first step is a 30-minute review of your content types, resolution needs, and switching latency targets. - Do you need native 4K per panel or can we use scaled 1080p sources? - What are your typical source types and required switching latency? Hello, The hidden challenge here is not simply driving six screens, it is preserving flexible layouts without making the prototype expensive, fragile, or impossible to scale. I can design a practical 3 × 2 architecture comparing GPU/software canvas control with a video-wall processor, then document the recommended path with a signal-flow diagram, display and GPU specifications, connectivity, mounting, power, layout recall, risks, and an itemized BOM. My approach will frame the system for unified canvas, grouped zones, and independent displays while keeping future API Integration and Artificial Intelligence control options realistic. I will also show where Software Architecture decisions affect reliability, switching behavior, and expansion, and can structure the documentation so it supports future Landing Pages or operator dashboards if those become part of the control experience. Please share the attached reference image and any preferred content resolutions; I’ve shared an initial estimate based on your description, and once we go over a few technical or functional details, I’ll confirm the exact cost and delivery schedule. Should the prototype prioritize seamless low-latency switching, maximum independent-source flexibility, or the lowest initial hardware cost? Best regards, Asad I will include 2-3 focused design questions covering source types, target resolutions, control method, and whether low-latency switching is required. Looking forward to your reply so we can finali

You want one 3 × 2 wall that can act as a single canvas or as separate zones without enterprise cost, and I'd shape the whole design around keeping that switch simple. First I'd send a short architecture and signal-flow diagram comparing a GPU-based setup with a video-wall processor, so you can react before the rest is written. My bid is 140 USD fixed over 7 days: 50% when the architecture and diagram are delivered, 50% once the BOM, budget, risks and review are done. What display size and room dimensions are you planning for the wall? Happy to start as soon as you've picked a direction. Sela

Hi, You're aiming for a compact six-display setup that can read as a single canvas or split into zones for different apps, without blowing the budget. I've designed similar multi-display layouts that balance image quality and responsive control in remote consults. I'll start by mapping the current signal path, then sketch a practical hardware plan and test layouts on real panels. Initial decisions will focus on six-output GPU capability, a flexible video-wall controller, and simple layout recall. One risk is getting stable performance with six displays at full HD or 4K, depending on panel brightness and cables. What should happen to saved layouts if a display is added or changes resolution mid-session? Who owns the layout state and how would you want updates pushed via API or automation? If we're aligned, I’d be happy to walk you through the implementation plan before we get started. Best regards, Brandon

I've built and managed multi-monitor development environments and done structured cabling, GPU configuration, and Linux display server work across a bunch of projects. So the hardware side of your 3x2 setup -- GPU outputs, adapters, mounting, cabling -- is ground I've actually covered hands-on. That said, I want to be straight with you. Professional AV system design (Crestron, Extron, video-wall processors, AVIXA-level control-room architecture) isn't part of my daily work. If you specifically need someone who's deployed VuWall or Datapath controllers in production environments, I'm probably not your best filter. Where I can genuinely help: I've specced out multi-display GPU builds (NVIDIA multi-monitor configs, DisplayPort daisy-chaining, proper cable runs), done the research on software-based vs hardware-processor approaches, and I'm comfortable putting together a clear BOM with real pricing and a signal-flow diagram you can hand to an installer. The consulting-and-document side of this is exactly what I do well. I've also wired structured cabling and low-voltage systems, so the power and connectivity recommendations won't be theoretical. For the 30-minute walkthrough at the end, I can screen-share the architecture doc and answer questions live. Want to start with a quick call to make sure my background fits what you're after?

Hi, I can help structure the six-display prototype into a practical architecture with a clear upgrade path. I’d compare: • GPU-driven Mosaic/Eyefinity approach • Dedicated video-wall processor • Hybrid GPU + software layout control Deliverables would include: • 3×2 signal-flow diagram • Recommended display/GPU/output specs • Cabling, adapters, mounting, and power guidance • BOM with estimated costs • Unified vs grouped-display switching strategy • Layout save/recall options • Scaling path toward AV-over-IP/control-room systems • Key risks: EDID, resolution limits, sync, bezel alignment, cable length, and GPU output constraints I want to be transparent: I won’t claim personal AVIXA/video-wall deployment experience I cannot verify. My background is stronger in software, APIs, automation, and system architecture, which is useful for control and future AI/API integration.

Hi I've designed multi-display visualization systems using NVIDIA Mosaic, Crestron control and professional video processing, including layouts that can switch between a unified canvas and independently controlled displays. I checked your attached example, and the distinction is clear: one mode needs the six screens to behave like a single project workspace, while the other needs separate applications such as CRM, Calendar, Splunk, web research and documents to remain independently usable. For the prototype, I'll compare GPU/software and video-wall-processor approaches, then define the six-display GPU/output configuration, cabling, control and layout recall, mounting/infrastructure, BOM, estimated cost, signal-flow diagram and scaling considerations. I'll keep the recommendation practical rather than turning it into an enterprise command-center design. One detail that will drive the hardware choice: are the six displays expected to run at 4K60, or is a lower resolution/refresh acceptable for the prototype? Thanks, Belal

Hi, your 3 x 2 multi-display architecture needs a balance between hardware cost and seamless switching between a unified canvas and grouped zones. I will draft a complete systems architecture document comparing a dedicated hardware video-wall processor (such as Datapath or basic FPGA controllers) against a workstation GPU solution utilising NVIDIA Mosaic or AMD Eyefinity. The specification will detail commercial ultra-narrow bezel panels, precise DisplayPort/HDMI cabling runs, EDID management, power distribution, and mounting alignment. To handle layout presets, I will outline lightweight control approaches via Crestron, Companion, or custom API scripts to recall zones instantly. I can complete the comprehensive architecture blueprint within 2 to 3 business days, including a clear hardware bill of materials and wiring schematics. Are the sources running primarily from a single central host workstation, or will you need external HDMI inputs like laptops patched in dynamically? Best regards, Tumisang
