I need two short books on the subject of empathy in the world. The narrative: there is empathy and compassion in the world and it prevails. (sounds crazy right?) but if you look at all of the many tragedies that have happened in the world and US even in the last few years, there are many many evidences of kindness and heroism.
First Book: The global visions of light that break through at the lowest most dangerous hours. This first book explains the word empathy itself and how it differs from sympathy. Then goes on to supply stories and direct quotes of people who were saved, or those who saved or aided them. All quotes should have a name attached. The only overarching theme is empathy as opposed to a story line.
Second book: Same premise as above. This book is about empathy for the planet, not from a political perspective but from dawn of the age of empathy for our environment - 60's to now and future corporate changes and growing respect - from around the world. None of the negative from the US or around the world, just the positive. I again would like it to be filled with direct quotes (ie, Apple's founder, Silicon Valley, projects going on to repair and improve the environment. At the end, how will artificial intelligence effect these efforts and does human empathy matter most?
Applicant must provide writing samples that relate to this project. I need a person who is eager to do research as well as write in a light handed, easy to read manner that is joyful and optimistic.
