We are a manufacturer of sports equipment looking to have a product that we currently injection mold designed for additive manufacture.
The component is a handle for a sword fencing blade [login to view URL] which we currently mill material from to reduce weight.
We have tried 3d printing samples in a range of materials and have had some work done by a 3rd party printing company but this has fallen through due to costs and we do not own the rights to the work that they did on development. They also didn't manage to produce a finished design.
We would like to own the design so that we can put the manufacture out to tender so this is a project to produce a finished design ready for additive manufacture.
This part will probably have to be printed in either aluminium or titanium to maintain the strength needed but we will look at other options.
I can provide a base 3d model of the part after an NDA is signed.
There are two main areas of constraint the first is the compressive force of the nut bearing down on an M6 thread to hold the handle on and the second is the loading on the surface of the handle when it is in use.
