I have a mini project that I hope will find your interest. The most important thing is that I need it fast, and working instantly. It's very simple.
I need a basic rest API, that would connect to a SQL server database(>=2008 ) using oauth and identity. It must be an MVC 4 project, with identity for authentication. Now the best part is that I only need the token ability. This is a classic authentication system. The rest API calls starts with getting a token through identi ty, then carry this token that must be validated through each API calls.
I don't need the API itself really. Maybe just a simple http get returning a list of city for the sake of running an example. The important part is the token.
I already have the identity tables attached to my current application. So it would authenticate against users already registered. For that reason I don't need a register/forgot password/user management tool. I already have that.
Here are the steps:
1- API call to authenticate client, using my aspnet user table having role 'apiuser'
2 - API returns a token valid for a couple hours.
3 - Subsequent API calls have the token in each call to be sure the client is valid, so needs token verification each time.
I only need a simple example for the rest API returning itself, like a hardcoded list of 5 cities for example will do. But only authorized requests go through of course.
I'm pretty sure there's already a template solution out there that does just this, but I need one that I can wire in my existing app, if possible, I'd just need to put my own connection to my already existing aspnetusers and roles tables.
I'm sure I could find it somewhere but I want to save time so...if you could find and try it that for me, that's what I'm looking for.
Just to be clear, I already have the Rest API and authentication for users using the web pages. I only need the token authentication part as an option to offer data for these users.
Please let me know if you can do this and for how much. A download of an existing Microsoft project is fine as long it's easy to add as a project in my solution that already uses identity authentication for web forms so..
I basically just need a token layer and a sample call to test it, returning a hardcoded list of strings is fine.
Thank you very much in advance.
