Micro Particle Identification Equipment
This project is to develop an equipment to identify micro particles of size 10 microns. The particle is carried by sheath fluid and pass a laser beam. The scattering intensity at 5 different angles will be measured and used to characterize the particles. The duration the particle in the laser beam is 5 micro seconds. The speed of the sheath fluid is 10m/s.
1. The embedded system will have 2 features: To acquire data at real-time, and control the fluid movement.
2. The scattering light intensity is measured by photodiodes and PMT. The system needs to feature signal baseline-restorer. The data acquiring is triggered by threshold of the pulse.
3. The fluid is flowing in pipes, and controlled by pinch valves. The fluid movement is activated by vacuum and pressure pumps. Sample is measured by syringe. The sample injection involves prostatic pumps. The system needs to control 64 solenoid switches, 8 stepper motors, 2 AC motors, 6 DC motors.
4. A PC application is used to control the equipment, process data, and display results.
