i am in need of a small program, (or just the code that i can add to a program i'm working on) that will start a process (the process is a long running process!), and return the PID of the process...
The basic expected flow is following.
call to command -- (example: startProc(config); ) -> startProc should execute a bash script or the daemon software and return the PID of the software.
keep in mind that the software i'm starting is a long running daemon (like a shoutcast server for instance), so there is no exit value from the bash script or daemon process, it just starts up...
i would prefer to use only standard librarys, but i am willing to accept librarys such as boost.
if you need more information, or if i've been unclear in anyway, please contact me.

The bid is for C code running on Linux, using only standard library (libc) functions. At your option, you can have the interface done for C or C++. Please refer to your PMB for further discussion.
