Function description: data is inserted in the database. A trigger (on insert) calls an external function that parses the data that was inserted and then does the following:
inserted data format: aa:bb:cc:10.23
Takes the numeric part and adds it to another table that only has a number.
Takes the data inserted, if data exists on another table, it adds the numeric part of both data strings. If it doesn't exists, it inserts it in that table.
This is the first description of the project, but somehow the second was published and not this one:
A data stream with format aa:bb:cc:12.34 comes into the server and it's inserted into a blob field (there could be hundreds of strings in that single string). A procedure (trigger) calls the external program, which connects to the mysql server, parses the blob field, converts the numeric part of the data into numbers and inserts it into another table B that will hold the numeric limit of that specific string. If such numeric code doesn't already exists in table B, it will be created.
Programme must include source code so we can modify server/password/table information.
It will run on CentOS and preferably not make use of HD (ideally it will process everything in RAM (pointers
