The software will be a tiny windows application (win32), which will simply provide GUI for the "map network drive" functionality in Windows.
The software will be compiled with no dependencies on any runtime libraries or so. Single exe file, max size 100KB if possible, which works on as most Windows versions as possible. A dependency on .net runtime or VB runtime or other similar is UNACCEPTABLE. The application has to fully support visual styles, it has to look nice and clean, exactly like at the screenshot.
The application will be used as a 'redesigned' user interface for "Map Network Drive" feature in Windows, while the user will be able to either map a network drive (SMB share, WebDAV, etc) and also to list or disconnect all mapped network drives, which are currently connected.
User will be able to select "persistent" mapping or "temporary" mapping; persistent will cause the drive to be mapped after reboot automatically.
Optionally, if Windows provide that information, the user could be able to see some statistics of pending operations or opened connections or so (third tab at the screenshot). If this info is unavailable, the third tab should not be implemented at all.
You will provide compiled EXE file and all source codes. Your source code will be released under GNU GPL license. That means you are not permitted to use any code in your sources, which is licensed using any more restrictive license, and your final product will be opensource, freely redistributable.
More details about the operation of the software is uploaded as a separated RTF document, including screenshots.
