ReactOS Respin. - IntegratedOS
We are looking to start an off-shoot from the ReactOS project.
It’s a great open source project that brings NT accessibility to those who don’t have the cash for Microsoft software.
The main issue is that although it seems to install soundly the driver management system isn’t great.
If a driver is not installed automatically during setup then the process of adding one becomes tedious and long winded.
Information is offered on the ReactOS website regarding slipstreaming drivers into the disk pre-install. So here is what we plan to do;
1) Slip stream a larger driver database into it
2) Add some additional applications to make it more accessible to the general user.
3) Rebrand the GUI (of course making sure the original ReactOS logo is visible although smaller on boot up)
We are looking for somebody to lead this project. To distinguish who that may be we have select drivers, for the machines we use, to be slipstreamed so the efficiency of your work can be checked.
The drivers we would like integrated are for the machines as follows –
• Compaq evo w6000
• Dell inspiron 6400
• Compaq Presario 2500
• HP omnibook 6100
• Acer travel mate 260
• Sony Vaio PCG6G3P
• Ibm r31
• Dell latitude D410
• Dell 5110CN
• HP LaserJet 1020
• Canon pixma ip4500
• Muto RJ6000-43
You will need to be able to repeat these modifications to future revisions of their framework, as they are currently in alpha stage, and the framework has stability issues.
All you need to do for the current task is successfully slipstream these drivers into their OS. If successfully done, the next stage will merely be implementing a larger driver database that can be ported through future editions.
