Wanted consultant who can advise us on the process ( optimal and stable way) to automate application msi installation on client systems (for upgrades on client machine only, not for 1st time client installation).
We have server application msi installed on 1 server computer
We have 200 client computers in the same network that need to be installed with latest client application production update msi”.
This has to be an automated process
Our current process is as follows:
The client has 1st version of client application product installed on it manually.
We manually place a copy of our latest “client update msi” on server system (in a predefined folder) on the server every week.
Every time client application starts on a client system, it will check for version number of the latest “client update msi” on server system. If newer version of “client update msi” is found to be available on the server then the client application will start a batch file (batch file located on the client system).
Batch file will
1. Uninstall client application
2. Give command to install new version of “client update msi” from server to client
We are looking for better and stable process to set up automated updates on the client.
Consultant need to provide us the necessary guidance (or code if necessary that works) to implement this better process.
The solution should work on Windows XP, Vista.
Will pay $50/hr for the help.
