I need a structural engineer to design an LVL beam to support the second floor and replace the existing load-bearing wall that is 24’. The wall is adjacent to the living room, kitchen, and dining room on the main floor. The area measures 24 feet long and 20 feet wide. The joists are 2x8, spaced 16 inches on centre, perpendicular to the load-bearing wall, and are 12 feet long on one side and 8 feet on the other. The roof of the second floor is framed with trusses that transfer the load to the exterior walls, so none of the interior walls on the second floor are load-bearing. The main floor is supported by joists of the same size and a steel beam in the basement, which rests on the concrete foundation at one end, a steel post in the centre, and a 4-ply 2x4 post at the other end.
