Update: This is a repost of my previous recent project which allowed me to appoint an editor to create a word file and pdf in 6X9 format with place settings for poem related images. The book has 38 pages, black and white format for text and images, 8 poems and 25 image placeholders ( 2 to 3 per poem). A sample of the book is attached with two sample poems. The placeholders settings provide a place for the image on the page and includes a theme to guide the illustrator. Responses so far for previous project: So far I have been inundated with graphical designers in a commercial context. However I am looking for illustrators who are artists that created simple, evocative sketch illustrations, not elaborate designs and who are familiar with poetic themes. Here is the latest project brief: 'The Soldier Poems' is a collection of poems I have written about soldiers and the impact of war on them and their families. It is written in tribute to my father who was a soldier in WW2. It is written soon after the release of my book 'My War Father' in November 2025. See [login to view URL] I’m preparing a small, carefully curated collection of 8 to 10 poems written for an adult audience and I’d like each piece to sit alongside an equally evocative image. The visual direction I have in mind is simple yet striking—artistic graphics that don’t clutter the page but leave a memorable impression. I have prepared a sample pdf of the proposed poetry book called The Soldier Poems. I need an illustrator to create 'whistful and emotional images' that depict the poems in an evocative manner. We have provided: A sample pdf of the book with the introductory pages and the table of contents and a sample of two poems and its images with image themes. The poems each have an image per page and we have allocated a 'placeholder' position in the form of a blank square for the image with a theme that relates to the poem. We have set up the project so that you provide a sample image for the two sample poems. You need to provide: Two sample images and bid for the $AUD amount that you would like to be paid per image. Currently the book has 25 images to be created. Some notes and rules: YOur images remain your copyright and any I use are offered as an exclusive license to me. Your name will be credited at the beginning of the book. OUr illustrations should remain simple and evocative. There is not a huge budget for the book which is not intended to be a best seller but a legacy piece. So you are not meant to spend huge amounts of time on each image. My name is Todd Van Linda, and I am a freelance Concept Artist and illustrator. I am also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. I develop narrative driven visual systems for campaign storytelling - Which is a fancy way of saying that I illustrate stories. I have been drawing with pencil and pen and ink since I was a child, and I have been working freelance full - time as an artist / illustrator since January of 2010.
