I have an existing Android application written in Java. The complete Android Studio source code is available and the application is already working in production. I need an experienced Android Java developer to make several specific fixes and small enhancements. This is not a new app development project. Main tasks: 1. Bluetooth thermal printer compatibility - Existing NETUM NT1809 printing must remain unchanged. - Add/fix support for a PT210 ESC/POS Bluetooth printer. - Main issue is formatting/font behavior of the Defect Tag, Minus-Carton Tag. - Physical printer testing may need to be coordinated with me. 2. Fix EXTRA carton status - EXTRA status currently carries over to following inspection records. - EXTRA must belong only to the applicable record/carton. 3. Prevent report file overwrite - Existing SMB upload can overwrite an existing Excel report. - If filename already exists, automatically create -01, -02, etc. 4. Upload report is only an icon, add word: "upload report" 5. Fix/refactor Pause/Break function - Correct pause timing and Cancel behavior. - Support more than two pauses. - Pause must survive navigation between activities. - Correct handling of pauses longer than 59 minutes. - Break reason and Excel/report output must remain consistent. 6. Logout completion check - Before logout, check whether planned inspection quantity/tasks are completed. - EXTRA cartons must be counted separately. - Show completion summary or incomplete-plan comment prompt. 7. Configurable SMB folders - Allow separate configurable subfolder/path for Plan Download and Daily Report Upload. Important A detailed source-verified change request will be provided. It includes existing methods/code areas, required behavior and acceptance tests. I am looking for someone who will modify the existing application carefully, not rewrite it. Existing unrelated functionality must remain unchanged. Deliverables - Updated complete Android Studio source code - Working/signed test APK - Short list of files/methods changed - Regression testing of the requested functions - No source code obfuscation or dependency on the developer after completion Required skills Android Java, Android Studio, ESC/POS Bluetooth printing, SMB/file handling, SharedPreferences, Excel/JXL handling, debugging existing applications. Please bid only if you are comfortable working with an existing Java Android project. When applying, please briefly describe your experience with ESC/POS Bluetooth printers and debugging existing Android Java applications. Generic copy/paste proposals will not be considered.

The risky part here is not writing new features, it’s changing printer logic, pause handling, and report generation without breaking a production Java app that already works. I’d approach this as a careful patch job: trace the existing flows first, isolate each change area, then regression-test the printing, SMB naming, carton status, and logout checks before delivering the updated source and signed APK. I’ve worked on Android Java apps where the real work was debugging existing code rather than rebuilding from scratch, including Bluetooth/ESC-POS printing flows, file export/upload handling, SharedPreferences/state persistence, and fixing activity-navigation bugs that cause timers or status data to drift. I’m comfortable keeping one printer’s behavior untouched while adding compatibility for a second model. A small files/methods-changed list can be included with delivery so review is easier. - Is the PT210 already printing partially now, or is it failing entirely on the Defect Tag / Minus-Carton Tag formatting? - For the break timer, is the current state stored in memory only, SharedPreferences, or both? - For SMB paths, should the new download/upload folders be editable from a settings screen or read from an existing config area?

I’ll first isolate the PT210 ESC/POS formatting path for Defect and Minus-Carton Tags while leaving the existing NETUM NT1809 behavior untouched. I’m comfortable debugging production Android Java code and handling Bluetooth ESC/POS commands, including coordinating physical printer checks when formatting differs between models. I’ll then correct record-scoped EXTRA state, add collision-safe SMB filenames (-01, -02), update the upload label, and refactor pause persistence across activities with multiple breaks, long durations, cancellation, reasons, and Excel output consistency. The logout completion summary, separate EXTRA counts, and configurable Plan Download/Daily Report folders will be implemented without rewriting unrelated code. Within 5 days, you’ll receive the updated Android Studio source, signed test APK, changed file/method list, and regression-tested requested functions. Is the PT210 available for coordinated print checks, with the attached change request used as the acceptance criteria? Muhammad Saad

Hi, I have extensive experience with ESC/POS Bluetooth printers and debugging Android Java applications. I will address the Bluetooth thermal printer compatibility by ensuring the existing NETUM NT1809 functionality remains intact while adding support for the PT210 printer. I will focus on fixing the formatting and font behavior of the Defect Tag and Minus-Carton Tag, coordinating physical printer testing with you as needed. For the EXTRA carton status issue, I will ensure it only applies to the relevant inspection records. To prevent report file overwrites, I will implement a naming convention that adds suffixes like -01, -02 when filenames already exist. I will also enhance the upload report icon by adding the text "upload report". The Pause/Break function will be refactored to support multiple pauses, maintain timing across activities, and handle longer pauses correctly. I will implement a logout completion check to ensure all tasks are finished before logging out, providing a summary or prompt for incomplete plans. Lastly, I will allow for configurable SMB folders for Plan Download and Daily Report Upload. To get started, I will need access to the existing source code and the detailed change request you mentioned. Thanks!

Your Defect Tag and Minus-Carton Tag will print correctly on the PT210 while NT1809 output stays byte-for-byte identical. A PT210 test APK reaches you within 48 hours for a live print session. ESC/POS and debugging approach: PT210 and NT1809 firmware differ in how they handle ESC ! versus GS ! sizing, font A/B line width (32 vs 42 chars) and code pages. I will log the exact bytes the app sends for each tag, add a printer profile chosen by device name, and keep NT1809 on its current code path. A byte dump of NT1809 output before and after proves it is unchanged. Plan: 1. Days 1-2: PT210 profile, test APK, print session with you. 2. Days 3-4: EXTRA status reset per record, -01/-02 SMB filenames, "Upload report" label, separate SMB paths for plan download and report upload. 3. Days 5-6: Pause/Break stored as a list of start/end timestamps in SharedPreferences, so any number of pauses survives activity changes and 60+ minute pauses compute from milliseconds. Logout check with EXTRA counted separately. 4. Day 7: signed APK, list of changed files/methods, regression run against your acceptance tests. Minimal diffs in your existing classes, no rewrite, no obfuscation, full source back to you, 14-day bug-fix window. Two questions: 1. Which SMB library does the app use (jcifs 1.x or jcifs-ng)? It affects the file-exists check. 2. Are the tags printed as ESC/POS text or as a bitmap? Send the change request and I will check the plan against it the same day. Thanks, Srinichal

I’m comfortable taking over an existing production **Java Android application** and making targeted fixes without rewriting or disturbing unrelated functionality. I would first review the supplied source and your detailed, source-verified change request, then work method-by-method against the stated acceptance tests. For the printer work, I can troubleshoot the **PT210 ESC/POS Bluetooth** implementation at the byte/command and formatting level, including paper width, fonts, alignment, bolding and tag layout, while keeping the existing **NETUM NT1809** behavior unchanged. I can coordinate physical printer testing with you where required. I can also handle the remaining fixes: • Isolate EXTRA carton state per inspection • Prevent SMB report overwrites with -01/-02 naming • Improve upload-report UI • Refactor pause/break timing, cancellation and persistence across activities • Support unlimited pauses and durations over 59 minutes • Ensure Excel/report break data remains consistent I’ll preserve the existing architecture, dependencies and behavior wherever possible, with focused changes and regression testing. **Deliverables:** updated Android Studio source, signed test APK, changed files/methods list, and testing results. No obfuscation or developer dependency. I have extensive Android development and debugging experience and can work directly within an established Java codebase. I’ll review the actual implementation before committing to specific changes or timelines.

Hi, I'm Denis, a full-stack developer with solid experience maintaining and fixing production Android applications. I've worked directly with ESC/POS printer implementations, Bluetooth device communication, and state management issues like yours. I understand what you need: careful, surgical fixes to your existing system—not a rewrite. I respect the current codebase structure and make targeted changes without breaking unrelated functionality. I see the core challenges: printer formatting differences between NETUM and PT210 models, EXTRA carton status leaking across records, and pause/break logic that needs to survive navigation. I've debugged similar Bluetooth device state and activity lifecycle problems before. The SMB filename collision and logout completion check are straightforward once I understand the codebase. My approach: start with a thorough code review and your detailed change request, map out modification areas, then work methodically through each task. I'll test against both printers where needed and ensure nothing breaks. The pause function refactor will likely need careful state management using SharedPreferences or a service-based approach to persist across activities. The main risk is printer behavior differences between models—ESC/POS is a standard, but implementations vary. We'll need to coordinate physical testing with you to validate formatting on the PT210. I can start right away. Let's discuss the details. Thanks, Denis.
