I need a small-footprint Azure application, that I can deploy inside my tenant, that lets users upload a PDF of our “date effective” records and automatically pulls out the From Date and To Date. Here is the flow I have in mind: 1. Upload interface (simple web page or BLOB-triggered function) accepts a single PDF at a time. 2. Azure AI Document Intelligence handles the parsing. If extra text cleanup or disambiguation is required, feel free to chain Azure OpenAI behind it. 3. Your code pinpoints the first instance of the two labels (“from date” / “to date”) and captures the values in ISO format. 4. The result, together with a unique identifier we generate for that file, is inserted into an Azure SQL Database table. I will provide sample PDFs and the target table schema (id, file_name, from_date, to_date, raw_json). Success means each sample lands in the table with correct dates and zero malformed rows. A short README template that recreates the resources round out the hand-off along with a recorded video call walking through the test and architecture. If you’ve built anything with Document Intelligence before, especially custom models, let me know—speed and accuracy are more important than flashy UI.

Hi, This project requires a precise, small-footprint Azure app to extract date ranges from PDFs and store them reliably, which aligns well with my experience in document intelligence and database integration. The main engineering risk is ensuring accurate extraction and normalization of dates from varied PDF layouts while maintaining zero malformed rows. I usually design systems separating ingestion, parsing, and storage layers to isolate failures and simplify maintenance. Leveraging Azure AI Document Intelligence chained with Azure OpenAI for disambiguation fits naturally here. I would first validate extraction accuracy with your sample PDFs, then implement robust date parsing and ISO normalization before inserting into Azure SQL. Systems like this benefit from clear logging and error handling to maintain data integrity in production. I typically deliver clean, documented code with deployment instructions and architecture walkthroughs to ensure smooth handoff. Thanks, Hercules

Hello There! I’m Md Toriqul Islam, an experienced full-stack developer with 10+ years of experience building lightweight, reliable cloud applications, document-processing workflows, APIs, and database integrations. I understand you need a small Azure-hosted application that accepts one PDF at a time, uses Azure AI Document Intelligence to identify the first “From Date” and “To Date,” normalizes them to ISO format, and stores validated results plus raw JSON in Azure SQL. I’ll include error handling, duplicate-safe IDs, validation, logging, README deployment steps, and an architecture walkthrough. I am skilled in Python, Azure, REST APIs, SQL, Document processing, Docker, and cloud automation. Questions: 1. Are the PDFs consistently structured or from multiple templates? 2. Do you prefer Blob-triggered processing or a web upload interface? Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, Md Toriqul Islam

Hi, I can build this as a lightweight, tenant-deployable Azure solution using Blob Storage, Azure Functions, Document Intelligence, and Azure SQL. The extraction layer will identify the first valid “From Date” and “To Date” labels, normalize values to ISO format, validate date ordering, and reject ambiguous or malformed results before database insertion. Azure OpenAI can be added only as a controlled fallback when deterministic parsing and Document Intelligence confidence are insufficient. I’ll use managed identities, parameterized SQL operations, structured logging, retry-safe processing, and idempotency based on your generated file identifier. The handover will include deployment instructions, resource configuration, tests against the supplied PDFs, and a recorded architecture walkthrough. Three technical questions: 1. Are the PDFs digitally generated, scanned, or a mixture of both? 2. Can the same labels appear multiple times in headers, tables, or attachments within one PDF? 3. Should failed or low-confidence extractions be stored for review, or prevented entirely from reaching the target table? Best regards, Houssame

Hi, I'm Denis, a full-stack developer with experience building data extraction pipelines on Azure using Document Intelligence and OpenAI. Your goal is clear: reliably extract two date fields from PDFs into SQL with zero errors. Document Intelligence handles primary extraction, with OpenAI as a fallback for ambiguous cases. I've handled similar projects where success depends on extraction accuracy and robust error handling. The key is validating dates before insertion and logging failures for review. Here's my approach: I'll review your sample PDFs and target schema to understand date formats and variations. Then I'll build extraction logic in Python using Document Intelligence's analyze endpoint to search for date labels, extract values, and convert to ISO format. If a date can't be confidently parsed, I'll use OpenAI with a focused prompt to disambiguate. All results, including raw Document Intelligence JSON, go into SQL with validation to catch malformed rows before insertion. The main challenge is handling date format variations—Document Intelligence returns structured fields, but inconsistent formatting or handwritten dates may require iterative tuning. I'll build this against your samples to catch issues early. Once the core logic is solid, I'll containerize it for Azure deployment, set up the BLOB trigger, and provide a README with infrastructure-as-code templates. We'll test together and I'll record a walkthrough of the architecture and results. I'm ready to sta

I’d build the upload-to-Azure SQL path around Azure AI Document Intelligence, locating the first “from date” and “to date” labels and normalizing their values to ISO format before insertion. Each PDF will receive a unique file identifier, with file_name, from_date, to_date, and raw_json written through validated, parameterized SQL so malformed records are rejected rather than inserted. I will deliver the deployable Azure application, README resource/setup instructions, and a recorded walkthrough of the sample test and architecture in 2 days. I’ll use Document Intelligence first and add focused cleanup/disambiguation only where the supplied PDFs require it, avoiding unnecessary Azure OpenAI complexity. Are the “from date” and “to date” labels consistently spelled across all sample PDFs? Muhammad Saad

I've built Document Intelligence pipelines before—custom models included—so this is straightforward for me. I'll wire up a BLOB-triggered Function App that feeds PDFs into Document Intelligence, chains OpenAI when disambiguation is needed, extracts the first "from date" and "to date" occurrences into ISO format, and writes clean rows to your SQL table with the file identifier and raw JSON payload. The upload interface is a simple static web form pointing to BLOB storage; validation happens server-side to catch malformed dates before they hit the database. I'll include a repeatable README with ARM template or Bicep for resource deployment, plus a walkthrough video covering the test results against your samples and the full architecture. The main operational concern is ensuring zero bad rows—I'll add pre-insert validation and logging so anything questionable gets flagged, not silently stored. I can start immediately and have the core pipeline running within days. Thanks, Andrii.

Hello, The real spec here is "zero malformed rows," and that turns on date ambiguity, not parsing. A value like 01/02/2024 is January 2 or February 1 depending on the source format, and Document Intelligence will normalize it to one. If that guess is wrong, you get a clean-looking but incorrect row, worse than a visible failure. So I'd handle it in two steps. First, pin the format: parse with the known locale of your records, not the model default. Second, guard before the insert: if a date will not parse, or from_date is after to_date, or confidence is low, the file goes to a "needs review" state instead of writing a bad row. The full response still lands in raw_json, so every case is traceable and re-runnable. On the pipeline: for two fixed labels I'd keep extraction deterministic. Document Intelligence layout gives words with positions, so I anchor on the first "from date" and "to date" labels directly, and fall back to Azure OpenAI only when a label is missing. A model in the main path adds cost and randomness to something that should be exact, working against your speed and accuracy goal. I'd build it as a BLOB-triggered Function inside your tenant, small footprint, with the insert keyed on the file id so a re-triggered blob never double-inserts. Function, Document Intelligence, Azure SQL, nothing extra. One question: are the dates always one format and locale, or do they vary by document? That decides whether one parser is enough or I need per-file detection.

I’ve built Azure document-processing pipelines using Azure AI Document Intelligence, Azure Functions, Blob Storage, Azure SQL and Azure OpenAI. Your workflow is a great fit: upload → extract the first From/To Date instances → ISO-normalise → validate → insert cleanly with raw JSON and unique ID. I’ll keep the UI lightweight and provide reproducible infrastructure steps, README and architecture walkthrough. Timeline: 2–3 days Realistic fixed price: £180–£250 — the £10–£20 budget won’t cover a reliable Azure implementation and testing. Send the sample PDFs/schema and I can start with extraction accuracy first.

Hello, I hope you're doing well. I can build this lightweight Azure application to accept a PDF, process it with Azure AI Document Intelligence, extract the first occurrences of the “From Date” and “To Date” fields, normalize the values to ISO format, and store the result in Azure SQL. The implementation can optionally include Azure OpenAI as a cleanup/disambiguation step if the Document Intelligence output requires additional processing. Each uploaded file will receive a unique identifier, and the database record will include the file name, extracted dates, and raw JSON response. I’ll keep the upload interface intentionally simple and focus on what matters most for this project: extraction accuracy, reliable processing, and clean Azure integration. I’ll also validate the implementation against the sample PDFs and target SQL schema to ensure there are no malformed records. The handoff will include the complete source code, deployment/build instructions, a README explaining how to recreate the required Azure resources, and a walkthrough covering the architecture and test process. I’m ready to work directly with your sample PDFs and schema and build the solution around the actual document structure.

Built document-extraction apps on Azure with OCR and LLM checks. Pulling From/To dates reliably from varied PDFs is really a layout-plus-validation problem, so I'd pair Azure Document Intelligence with a light LLM pass to catch ambiguous formats, then return clean structured output. Small-footprint and deployable inside your tenant, documented so you own it. Happy to share a quick Loom of it parsing a sample before final delivery. Roughly how varied are the PDF layouts?

Hi, I can build your small Azure PDF date extractor app to upload or trigger from a PDF, parse it with Azure AI Document Intelligence, extract the first From Date and To Date, convert them to ISO format, and insert the result into Azure SQL. The best solution is to first review your sample PDFs, label patterns, target Azure SQL schema, file identifier logic, and preferred trigger method. Then I’ll create a lightweight Azure Function or simple upload page, connect Document Intelligence, apply date cleanup/disambiguation where needed, and store id, file_name, from_date, to_date, and raw_json safely in the database. I’m comfortable with Azure Functions, Azure Blob Storage, Azure AI Document Intelligence, Azure SQL, Python, REST APIs, PDF parsing, date extraction, ISO date formatting, JSON handling, error validation, and tenant-deployable cloud apps. Deliverables will include: * PDF upload or Blob-triggered flow * Azure Document Intelligence integration * From Date / To Date extraction * ISO date formatting * Azure SQL insert logic * Raw JSON storage * Error handling for malformed rows * Testing with sample PDFs * README deployment guide * Architecture/test walkthrough I’ll focus on a simple, accurate, and tenant-ready app that extracts the required dates reliably without unnecessary UI complexity. Best regards Ankit

Hello, I can build the PDF date extractor as a lightweight Azure service using Document Intelligence and OpenAI for cleanup, avoiding unnecessary complexity while ensuring reliable date extraction. I’ve processed similar documents for a client using Azure AI—extracted dates from invoices with 98% accuracy, though some required manual review for edge cases. I’d structure it as a BLOB-triggered function with Document Intelligence parsing and OpenAI for disambiguation, storing results in SQL. The biggest challenge will be handling inconsistent date formats, which I’d address with regex and validation. This will reduce manual data entry and ensure consistent date formatting across records. I provide two weeks of bug fixes and improvements within the project scope. If we’re aligned, I’d be happy to discuss next steps. Thanks, Lazar.

Hi, Blob-triggered Azure Function for ingestion (lighter than a web UI, fits single-PDF flow). Azure AI Document Intelligence for parsing - prebuilt Layout model if your PDFs share one template, or a custom extraction model if formats vary. Azure OpenAI only as a fallback for edge cases, not a default step, to keep cost/latency down. Extracted dates converted to ISO format, paired with a generated ID, inserted into your Azure SQL table. I've built custom Document Intelligence models before, so I can handle either path depending on your samples. Before I quote a timeline, I need: Are all sample PDFs the same template, or do formats vary? How many samples can you share? (custom models need enough labeled examples) Can "From Date"/"To Date" appear more than once per PDF? Contributor access on your Azure subscription for deployment Deliverables Deployed resources in your tenant (Function App, Document Intelligence, SQL) Pipeline tested against your samples, zero malformed rows README for recreating resources Recorded architecture/test walkthrough Send me answers to the four points above and I'll get you a firm quote. I have built multiple serverless document processing pipelines on Azure and can deliver this date extraction app cleanly for direct deployment in your tenant. Here is the exact architecture I will deploy: 1. Ingestion Interface: A lightweight Azure Function with an HTTP / Blob Storage trigger and a clean, single-page upload interface supporting drag-and-drop PDF ingestion. 2. AI Document Intelligence Pipeline: The Function invokes Azure AI Document Intelligence (prebuilt-layout model) to extract text and key-value coordinates. A Python regex and dateparser layer extracts the first instance of 'from date' and 'to date' and normalizes them into standard ISO-8601 (YYYY-MM-DD). 3. Fallback & Ambiguity Handling: If layout variations cause OCR ambiguity, a lightweight Azure OpenAI (GPT-4o-mini) step chains seamlessly for contextual extraction. 4. Clean Output & Deployment: Results return immediately via JSON response with file name, extracted dates, and confidence scores. I will provide ARM/Bicep or Terraform deployment scripts and a clear README for your tenant setup. Let us connect via text chat to review a sample PDF and get this live in your Azure tenant!

Hello! I've been recommended by a Freelancer Recruiter. Nice to meet you. Your main requirement is a working delivery that matches the brief without breaking what you already have. I’ll start from your title and description, list the must-have requirements, and implement against your specified stack. Existing code and integrations stay in place unless you asked to replace them. I’ll confirm edge cases, errors, and acceptance checks before calling it done. The main technical risk is a mismatch between the listing and the live system. I’d first read the current flow and reproduce the reported behavior, then implement the smallest change that meets the written requirements and add a rollback path if the change has to be reversed. I'd love to chat about your project! The worst that can happen is you walk away with a free consultation. Regards, Chris | Lead Developer | Novatech
