My name Scott Dunne, I'm retired and 59 years old. I'm trying to apply for a permit HC-BLD-21-0007118, to do a patio lanai with a shingled roof. I have provided to the county all that they have requested such as the utility approvals etc. Today the County sent me a notice saying my plans require corrections. It states all identified issues will require a brief text response/acknowledgement, issues list 1. So this is why I'm writing to you today, the issue states illustrations and Structural analysis, created by Steven Kolaga. (Please provide digitally signed engineered plans by a licensed Architect or Engineer in the state of Florida, identifying elevation, sections, components, connections and details along with code analysis verifying compliance with section R301.1.3 of the FBC 2020 7th edition, and 107.2.1, 107.3.5 FBC building). Issue requires modification to be submitted. I have been around the construction field most of my adult life and don't feel this project isn't beyond my ability to accomplish, I believe my build could even be more stringent then the current building code.
A patio lanai with concrete slab 4" in depth, 4000 psi concrete reinforced with rebar and mesh grilling. Four support columns with 4000 psi concrete reinforced with 7/8" rebar to support roof structure. The two end post are 12" cylinder support columns set on top of a 20"x20"x12" base reinforced with rebar. The two center post are 8" cylinder columns sitting on a 16"x16"x12" base reinforced with rebar. A 2"x10" beam will be bolted to the building with double 2"x8" beams on each end of the roof structure. 2"x 8" beams 16" on center will stretch across to attach to a double 2"x10" beam with 3/4" plywood in between the 2"x10" beam bolted to the concrete cylinder columns. All wood to be used will be pressure treated. On top of the 2"x 8" beams 16" center will be a 3/4" plywood roof with shingles. The columns and double beams will be finished off using stucco to match the existing building design. The underside of the roof will be finished off in a wood design.
