Assessment and fixing of latency in gst-switch

Latency - in wall time - for the following things needs to be assessed.

* Latency from input to recorded file.

* Latency from input to output.

* Latency from input to video preview of input streams.

* Latency from input to video preview of output video stream.

* Number of video frames lost when changing PIP mode. Should also measure wall-time for a transition to occur.

* Number of video frames lost when changing selected video. Should also measure wall-time for a transition to occur.

* Number of audio frames lost when changing audio input. Should also measure wall-time for a transition to occur.

Ideally the answer for the last 3 questions should be *zero* frames dropped and a wall-time transition of less then 250ms.

The set up for these tests should be;

* Three different input videos.

* Three different input audio streams.

Tests/analysis should be run with both Standard Definition (768x576) and High Definition resolutions (1280x720).

The bottlenecks of the current system should be reported on and how they could be improved.
