I'm creating this VB.NET form to database project
for a manufacturing company. There is a web form, a VB.NET coded .apsx page. They want their employees to click on the web form and have a brand new reference number autopopulate a field. Its kinda like some of the help desk ticket systems I've worked with in my tech support days... a new reference number autopopulates upon page load.
> SQL Server 2000 database has about 30 columns, DocID column is set as Primary Key, Indentity seed yes and autoincrements by 1, it works great.
> Front end is VB (using Visual Web Developer 2005 express edition).
Form works great... as DBA I can see DocID column goes up by one after each form submission.
Problem: I don't know how to get the Reference Number/Doc ID to autopopulate from the SQL Server database.
Please help with this autopopulate portion of this VB.NET forms to database project I'm on. More work is possible, as this particular project I'm working on is ongoing. I'm a novice developer... need help with the finer details.
