Wireless Mesh Network Controlled LED Strip: Arduino Programming with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Mobile Device Integration
Budjetti $20-30 NZD / tunti
Job Description:
I am looking for an experienced Arduino developer to work on a project that involves controlling a 1-meter RGB LED strip, creating & communicating via a wireless mesh network using Arduino Nano V3.0 ATmega328P & XBee modules. I need someone to guide me in setting up a mesh network with multiple nodes - a maximum of 12 or 16 nodes. I will do the doing - but I need your instruction as a tutor & to teach me how it's done.
The ideal candidate should understand Arduino Uno & Nano boards, XBee modules, WS2812B or NeoPixel RGB LED strips, & Bluetooth or Wi-Fi modules.
Responsibilities:
Guide the development & implementation of a reliable & secure wireless communication system between Arduinos & cell phones using XBee modules. I am still determining whether the project requires the development of a custom mobile app for controlling the LED strip. Explain how to manage a WS2812B or NeoPixel RGB LED strip using the FastLED library on Arduino Uno or Nano boards. Assist in enabling remote control of the LED strip from a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi-enabled mobile device.
Requirements: Strong knowledge & experience with Arduino Uno & Nano boards, XBee modules, WS2812B or NeoPixel RGB LED strips, & Bluetooth or Wi-Fi modules. Experience with wireless communication protocols & mesh networking. Arduino programming skills to control colours and on/off times & sending these commands to the various nodes in the mesh network.
I am based in New Zealand & connecting in my evening hours is my preference.
**Phase 1:** *Project Outcome Definition and Planning*
Define and confirm the project's desired outcome: Using Arduino Nano V3.0 ATmega328P and XBee modules, control a 1-meter RGB LED strip and send different light commands from a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi-enabled mobile device using a wireless mesh network with 16 nodes in the network. Create an action plan for selecting components.
**Phase 2:** *Component Selection and Procurement*
Research and select the necessary components for the project, including Arduino Nano V3.0 ATmega328P, XBee modules, WS2812B or NeoPixel RGB LED strips, and Bluetooth or Wi-Fi modules.
**Phase 3:** *Network Assembly*
Assemble the wireless mesh network by connecting the XBee modules to the Arduinos and configuring them to communicate with each other.
**Phase 4:** *Programming the Arduino.*
Install the FastLED library on the Arduino Uno or Nano board. Program the Arduino to control the colours, on/off times, and receive commands from the mobile device. Enable remote control of the LED strip from a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi-enabled mobile device.
**Phase 5:** *Testing and Troubleshooting.*
Test the network and LED strip to ensure the Arduino and Mesh Network are working correctly. Troubleshoot any technical issues.
**Phase 6:** *Final Testing and Delivery*
Deliver the project and close off along with any necessary documentation or instructions.
I envisage timeframes as follows.
Phase 1: Project Outcome Definition & Planning (4 hours)
Phase 2: Component Selection & Purchasing (2 hours)
Phase 3: Network Assembly & Wiring (1 week)
Phase 4: Programming the Arduinos (2-3 weeks)
Phase 5: Testing and Troubleshooting (2 weeks)
Phase 6: Final Testing (2 weeks)
Please note that I am looking for guidance on Phases 1 & 2, and again, I might require remote assistance in phase 3. In phase 4, you will likely provide code I can install on the Arduino. Also, I want to explore the option of AI-generated code in this phase by myself. Phase 5 and Phase 6 require remote assistance based on troubleshooting. The type/model of Arduino and mesh network capability is still up for discussion, and the best option for the project requirement is still to be determined.
For anybody interested, please answer these questions at a high level:
Describe your process for selecting components for a project like this. Have you worked on a similar project before? How would you create a concept for this project and select the necessary parts?
