Hi Freelancers! So i have an assignment i need to make for my school in IoT regarding Arduino Mega 2560. Its about the following: Design and implement a data logger for hive monitoring that can measure the temperature and humidity inside the hive and outside the hive. In addition, there must be a sensor that can measure how much sunlight the hive is exposed to (sunlight intensity). The system must measure how external weather conditions (temperature, humidity and sunlight intensity) affect the bee colony's development. Create a system with 2 x temperature and humidity sensors (1 outside and 1 inside) and 1 sensor that can measure how much sunlight the hive is exposed to (outside), which saves data on an SD card every 10 minutes. It must mark the times (date and time) each time the values are saved on the SD card. Requirements: - 1 temp sensor and 1 humidity sensor are mounted inside the hive. There must be a wire connection between the sensor and the Arduino board of approx. 15 cm. - 1 temp sensor and 1 humidity sensor and 1 light detector sensor are mounted outside the hive. There should be a wire connection between the sensor and the Arduino board of approx. 20 cm. - 20 cm wire from battery to Arduino board connector: (Plug; DC supply; female; 5.5/2.1mm; 5.5mm; 2.1mm; for the cable; 14mm) - You can consider placing the data logger in a small cardboard box and protecting it with foil. (If you have enough time, you can also design a 3D box that you can cut and build in MakerSpace. Note that the data logger will be installed outside (and thus be affected by atmospheric conditions) The system must operate on 12V (battery or PSU under the hive). Also you can run data collection at home or in places where it is possible to measure temperature1, humidity1 and light outside and temperature2 and humidity2 inside the building simultaneously. You must sample data for a minimum of 3 days (3x 24 hours) every 10 minutes in a row Kind regards

To implement this Arduino Mega 2560 hive monitor reliably, we must utilize a hardware RTC module (like the DS3231 via I2C) for accurate timestamping and manage the SPI bus carefully to prevent SD card write failures during the 10-minute logging intervals. I bring over 3 years of experience engineering production-grade software for the global automotive industry, specializing specifically in Embedded Systems, IoT, and Arduino C Programming to ensure maximum reliability. Here is the exact technical execution plan for this data logger: - Hardware Architecture: Interface DHT22 or BME280 sensors for environmental data and an analog LDR or I2C BH1750 for sunlight intensity. The 15cm to 20cm wire runs require proper pull-up resistor sizing on the I2C and data lines to prevent signal degradation. - Power Management: The 12V DC input will be handled using either the Mega's onboard voltage regulator or a dedicated step-down buck converter to provide a stable 5V rail for the SD module and sensors, avoiding thermal issues. - Firmware Implementation: Write non-blocking C/C++ firmware utilizing hardware timers to trigger data collection every 10 minutes. The system will poll the RTC, format the sensor payload into a CSV string, and execute a safe FAT32 append operation to the SD card.

Hi there, I am an embedded systems developer with practical experience building environmental data loggers and automated agricultural monitoring systems. Your Arduino Mega 2560 hive monitoring assignment is a great project, and I can help you program, wire, and thoroughly test it. Here is how I will approach your assignment: Sensor Integration: I will write clean Arduino C++ code to read from two Temp/Humidity sensors (like DHT11/22) and a light sensor, strictly following your wire length specifications (15cm & 20cm). Accurate Data Logging: To save the data to the SD card every 10 minutes with accurate date/time stamps, I will add an RTC module (like DS3231) to the logic, as the Mega does not track time natively when powered off. Enclosure & Hardware: For the enclosure, I will follow your cardboard box and foil approach. If you wish to use your MakerSpace, I can also provide links to ready-to-print, free 3D models (STL files) perfectly sized for an Arduino Mega. Testing & Data Collection: I will assemble the hardware and run a continuous 3-day (72-hour) test at my location to generate the exact 10-minute interval sample data (CSV format) you need. Clear Documentation: I will heavily comment the code and provide a clear wiring schematic so you can confidently present the system. I am ready to start immediately! Best regards, Uday
