I would like a field deployable data acquisition system (preferably using something simple like arduino) that will record a fluxgate magnetometer for days in the open air.
If you want to look it up, this will be used for geophysics, one use will be to be a base magnetometer, placed on the ground, which will remove for the magnetic changes due to solar storms and the second will be placed on a drone. I would like someone to produce a working unit, which means, buy all of the components, assemble them, connect it all up, house it, so that its protected from weather. I’ll supply the lipo battery and the solar panel (for the ground unit) and connectors between the solar panel and battery. I’d like everything except the solar panel in one contained box. A two meter lead for both the magnetometer and temperature sensor need to run outside the box. The box doesn’t need to be to any water rating, so running the wires through a grommet on the side of the box is fine.
I don’t want any display or any functionality, it should just be the battery is connected and it starts acquiring and writing data. If the first couple of minutes takes a while to get in sync with the GPS that’s fine.

You can purchase a cheaper fluxgate magnetometer for testing and make the connector for the fluxgate magnetometer above. I own two of these magnetometers and will test it when I receive the equipment.
Note the voltage inputs for the magnetometer, I would also like you to produce the magnetometer connector please.
Recording at 1hz for the gound unit and 100hz for the drone unit.
GPS timing, I would like to output the UTC date and time to the nearest second (ie GPZDA) string for the base mag and have GPGGA and GPZDA string for the drone unit. The GPS is to record at 1hz for the ground unit and at least 10hz for the drone unit.
The drone unit needs to record the pitch, roll and yaw at 100hz to the nearest 0.1 degree.
Temperature sensor, doesn’t need to be overly accurate, to the nearest degree, 0.1deg resolution.
Log data onto an sd card.
The output data needs to be sorted into columns (either tab or comma seperated) so that I can read it into my software.
The DAS will be deployed to really remote areas, so it needs to be dampened from vibration during the drive out there.
If it’s easier, you could create the 1hz system first and I’ll pay you for that, then make the 100hz drone system after.
