Our company has a large warehouse stocking many thousands of SKUs (both items for sale and materials), but without the means to manage and control it. We have developed an internal backend service, with a web services API described in YAML, which already provides all of the necessary management functions, including managed Stock Take events. We also have an administrator's dashboard application. What we don't have is a bespoke application that runs on a robust Android phone or tablet, which, with the help of a barcode scanner, will give the warehouse operatives the tools required to keep track of inventory in the warehouse.
So, we are looking for a developer (or development team) that can offer a good price to develop a Portable User Interface as an Android application, which provides simple task-oriented activity screens that interact with the back-end internal web services (not internet) using XML-based messages. The PUI doesn't need to access any data - it simply converts input, both barcode scans and user input, into XML messages sent over the internal wi-fi network to the backend service, and displays the responses (also arriving as XML messages).
This development can very easily be done remotely by anyone with a phone, a barcode scanner and the right Android development experience.
