Hi There, I am pretty sure your peristaltic pumps run on DC, in that case you can not use relays as they are too mechanical transistor like TIP-120 will do a pretty good job to toggle the pumps, no noise, energy efficient too that's one two, app needs to talk to the Arduino over Bluetooth (BLE) , in that case we wont' need WiFi BLE runs on very very low power and it's pretty efficient compared to WiFi, so you definitely need an ESP32 ESP32 is just Arduino, but enhhanced, more RAM, It has both WiFi and BLE on SoC on board I will design app that talks to the ESP32 over BLE, and guess what , we are going to need port extender (shift register) to break out 16 pins to transistors to pumps using google assistant is not trivial as we need an online broker to do so, why not Alexa ? your project is very interesting and i am the right guy for it
