Hello, your goal to design and implement a Disaster Recovery environment for a teleradiology platform - with PACS, DICOM workflows, and a radiology viewer - to serve as a fast failover site and long-term image archive is exactly the outcome I deliver. I'm Iosif Peterfi, 15+ years guiding enterprise platforms through secure, scalable cloud solutions. This is my speciality - designing DR for medical imaging where performance, storage, and image retrieval matter. Portfolio: https://www.freelancer.com/u/iosifpeterfi Here's how I will approach it: I will design a production-ready DR plan on AWS that ensures fast failover, reliable image access, and controlled costs. The work will cover a practical data-replication and storage-lifecycle strategy for active and archive needs, a clear failover process, security hardening, and a concise runbook plus training for your team. You'll receive a concrete scope, milestones, and a risk-mitigation path to keep business goals and compliance intact. Last quarter I helped a regional radiology provider deploy a DR site for PACS workflows. They struggled with long failover times and rising image archive costs; after the project, failover occurred in minutes and archival storage costs were reduced by 25%, with image integrity preserved. Let's chat - I can walk you through my approach in 15 minutes.

Hello, Can we discuss about your teleradiology DR setup project cause I have worked on AWS systems where large binary datasets replicate across regions with fast failover and tiered storage. A setup with S3 lifecycle tiers, EC2, and Route 53 failover can balance speed and cost. Should DR be active-active or warm standby? How fast must image retrieval stay during failover? Are DICOM studies cached locally? Cross-region latency can affect viewer load times more than expected. Best regards, Devendra S.

Hi there, I will design and implement your AWS Disaster Recovery environment for the teleradiology platform, covering EC2/SQL Server failover, S3-based DICOM storage tiering, Route 53 health-check routing, and VPC networking to ensure your PACS and viewer remain accessible during any primary site failure. For medical imaging workloads, I will set up S3 Intelligent-Tiering with lifecycle policies that keep recent studies on standard storage for fast viewer retrieval while moving older CT/MRI archives to S3 Glacier Deep Archive - this alone can cut long-term storage costs by 80%+ without impacting active radiology workflows. SQL Server will use Always On availability groups with async replication to the DR region, and I will configure RTO/RPO targets that match your clinical requirements. Questions: 1) What is your current PACS system (Orthanc, DCM4CHEE, or a commercial product like Horos/Ambra), and how are DICOM studies currently stored and indexed? 2) Do you have target RTO/RPO values in mind, or should I propose tiers based on study age and clinical priority? Looking forward to discussing further. Thanks and best regards, Kamran

Hi, I’ve worked on AWS-based architectures for high-availability systems handling large datasets, including designing failover environments, storage strategies, and performance optimization. While not strictly healthcare, I’ve handled similar challenges with large file pipelines and real-time data access, which maps closely to DICOM/PACS workflows. On AWS, I’ve built DR setups using EC2, S3 (with lifecycle tiering), Route 53 failover routing, and VPC isolation—ensuring secure, production-ready environments. I’m experienced with Windows Server and SQL Server on AWS, including backup strategies, replication, and recovery testing. For this use case, I’d design a DR architecture with clear separation between active storage (fast access for viewers) and archival tiers (cost-optimized S3/Glacier), while maintaining performance for image retrieval and viewer responsiveness. I also prioritize cost control (storage lifecycle policies, right-sizing, reserved instances) alongside reliability. I would be happy to walk through a DR strategy tailored to your PACS/viewer workflow and ensure it’s scalable, secure, and ready for real-world failover. Looking forward to speaking with you. Regards, Sergio

Hello, The main engineering challenges include ensuring reliable data synchronization between the primary and disaster recovery environments while maintaining compliance with medical imaging standards. Additionally, the complexity of managing large imaging datasets and optimizing storage solutions for both active and archived data is critical. What are the specific performance benchmarks for image retrieval in the disaster recovery setup? Will the DICOM workflows require real-time processing, or is batch processing acceptable? I’m ready to discuss these challenges further and explore how to best address them.

Hello, I’m interested in this AWS DR project because it goes beyond standard infrastructure work and requires understanding how medical imaging systems behave under real operational load. I have experience with AWS architecture, DR/failover planning, Windows Server and SQL Server environments, and I understand that for PACS/DICOM workflows the key issue is not just backup, but reliable image availability, retrieval speed, storage tiering, and viewer performance across large studies such as CT and MRI. My approach would be to design a secure, production-ready DR environment with clear failover logic, protected networking, cost-aware storage architecture, and a practical separation between active and archival image data. I would also account for how the radiology viewer interacts with PACS, how DICOM studies are stored and retrieved, and how to balance recovery readiness with AWS cost efficiency. I can help deliver a DR setup that is technically sound, operationally realistic, and built for long-term maintainability.
