AI Systems Engineer for OpenClaw Integration

ROLE SUMMARY We are seeking a hands-on AI Systems Engineer with strong DevOps and LLM integration experience to design, deploy, and optimise a self-hosted AI agent (OpenClaw) running on a VPS. This is not a basic chatbot project. The role involves building a persistent, autonomous AI system that integrates: • LLMs (OpenAI, Claude, etc.) • Messaging platforms (Telegram) • Web-based dashboards • Task execution workflows CORE COMPETENCIES REQUIRED 1. DevOps & Infrastructure (Non-negotiable) The candidate must have real production deployment experience: • Linux server management (Ubuntu preferred) • VPS provisioning (Hetzner, AWS, DigitalOcean, etc.) • Containerisation: • Docker • Docker Compose • Reverse proxy setup: • Nginx • SSL/TLS configuration (HTTPS) • Firewall and server hardening The Candidate MUST confidently deploy and secure a server 2. LLM Integration & Orchestration (Critical) The Candidate must have direct experience integrating AI models via API: • OpenAI (GPT models) • Anthropic (Claude models) Required capabilities: • API integration (REST / SDK) • Token usage optimisation • Model selection logic: • cheap vs high-performance routing • Handling latency, failures, retries Bonus if YOU understand multi-model orchestration strategies 3. AI Agent / Automation Framework Experience (Highly Preferred) Experience with any of: • OpenClaw (ideal but rare) • LangChain • AutoGPT • CrewAI • similar agent frameworks The Candidate must understand: • tool calling • task execution • agent workflows • memory handling 4. Backend & Integration Skills 1. Node.js or Python backend experience 2. API design and integration 3. Webhooks (Telegram, APIs, etc.) 4. Ability to connect: • messaging systems • external services • automation tools 5. Frontend / Dashboard Capability (Preferred) Ability to build or customise a UI similar to: 1. ChatGPT 2. Grok Tech stack: • React / [login to view URL] preferred Must be able to implement: • chat interface • session history • basic controls (model selection, logs) 6. Messaging Integration (Telegram Required) Experience with: Telegram Bot API Ability to: • create bots • handle commands • connect bot to backend agent system 7. Security Awareness (Important) The candidate must understand: • API key management • environment variables (.env) • access control • limiting execution permissions OpenClaw agents can execute commands — security is critical. EXPERIENCE PROFILE WE ARE LOOKING FOR Strong candidates typically have: 1. 3+ years backend or DevOps experience 2. Proven VPS/cloud deployments 3. Experience integrating AI APIs 4. Built automation systems or internal tools Ideal backgrounds: • DevOps Engineer with AI experience • Backend Engineer working with LLMs • AI Automation / Agent Developer Do Not Apply If: • Only frontend developer • Only “prompt engineering” experience • No VPS / server deployment experience • No real API integration experience
