Most AI designers treat prompts like vending machines—input text, grab output, move on. But editorial AI work isn't about generation speed. It's about visual judgment. I've been creating AI-driven editorial content for publications where the images had to do three things simultaneously: stop the scroll, clarify complex concepts, and feel native to the brand—not like stock art with an AI sheen. What separates decent AI visuals from *effective* ones is the same thing that separates decent writing from effective writing: understanding reader intent. When I read an article, I'm reverse-engineering the moment someone will skim it. Where will their eyes hesitate? Which paragraph needs a conceptual anchor? Does this section need photorealistic credibility or stylized metaphor? I work primarily in Midjourney and DALL-E for generation, then composite and refine in Photoshop. My process: article review → visual mapping (hero image + 2-3 inline assets per piece) → generation with brand-aligned style references → editing for consistency and Pinterest specs (2:3 ratio, text-safe zones, thumbnail legibility). I don't need art direction. I need your brand guidelines and content calendar. Check the healthcare editorial series on page 2.
