The usual offenders are rn read as m, l and 1 and I swapped, 0 and O swapped, and broken words where a line ends with a hyphen. Numbers are the dangerous ones, a wrong digit in a figure looks completely normal on the page and there is nothing in the text to flag it. Since you said plain text accuracy matters more than layout, I will not spend time rebuilding fonts and spacing. You get one clean .docx with the pages in order, paragraph breaks preserved, and the text proof-read. If any word is genuinely unreadable on the scan I will mark it rather than guess at it, so you can see exactly where the source was unclear instead of finding an invented word later.
