Hi, I read through the full scope. Building this as modular from day one, separate projects or layers for Inventory, Employees, Finance and Admin, will matter a lot given you want modules added and changed during development. That structure keeps later changes from breaking earlier work. I work in VB.NET and C# on WinForms desktop apps, with SQL Server and Entity Framework for the data layer. I've built role-based auth, permissions and settings modules on past desktop projects, plus installer-ready deployment (Inno Setup/MSIX). I'm comfortable adapting to DevExpress's grid, reporting and dashboard components for this build. Given the evolving scope, I'd suggest we lock the first milestone (core modules plus auth) with a clear deliverable and price, then scope each additional module separately as you finalize priorities. That protects both of us from open-ended "zero bug" acceptance with no defined test process. Which module do you want built and working first, Inventory or Finance?

Fourteen years maintaining and extending VB.NET and C# desktop business systems, ERP, payroll and inventory for a manufacturing group, is the shape of work you are describing: someone who reads an existing codebase, changes it without breaking what already runs, and keeps reports and stored procedures healthy. Straight answer on your sample request: my grids, role based logins and printable reports were built on native WinForms and SQL Server, not on the DevExpress suite itself. The layer underneath, data binding, reporting and the SQL behind it, is where I have lived for years. If a sample would help you decide, say the word and I will build a small DevExpress WinForms app, one grid and one report bound to SQL Server, and have it with you in a few days.
