Python Developer Needed — ASC 310-20 Effective Interest Method (EIM) Excel Engine I need an experienced Python developer to build a deal-level accounting calculation engine for a Merchant Cash Advance (MCA) portfolio of approximately 8,000 deals. The system will apply the Effective Interest Method under ASC 310-20 to each deal individually and output results into a clean, audit-ready Excel workbook. Full technical specification with complete module-level sample code is provided — this is a build-to-spec engagement, not a design project. What you'll build: Python calculation engine using scipy, pandas, openpyxl, and Decimal arithmetic Business-day-aware payment schedule generation EIR solver ([login to view URL] primary / pyxirr fallback) Period-by-period amortization ledger with status-driven accounting logic Pre-computed monthly summaries written as static Excel values Six-tab Excel workbook output with validation and exception reporting Required skills: Python (pandas, openpyxl, scipy, Decimal) Financial math / IRR / amortization schedules Excel workbook generation Unit testing Nice to have: Familiarity with GAAP revenue recognition or loan accounting. The brentq + pyxirr fallback approach makes sense for edge cases on a portfolio that size. I've seen the usual failure modes: deals with weird payment gaps, precision drift with floats (Decimal is the right call), and EIR non-convergence on distressed deals.
