The book combines: Engaging storytelling Advanced vocabulary development Visual learning through illustrations Comic-style dialogue for deeper understanding The aim is to make vocabulary learning fun, contextual, and memorable, helping children naturally improve their reading and writing skills. Target Audience Students: Grades 2 to 6 Parents and educators English Language Arts learners (including ESL students) Concept & Approach The book follows a group of characters called The Word Explorers who go on everyday adventures (park, school fair, fantasy land, etc.). Each chapter focuses on: A specific vocabulary theme (e.g., size, emotions, movement, condition) Word meanings explained through story context Subtle differences between similar words (e.g., tiny vs minuscule vs massive) Illustration Requirements We are looking for an illustrator who can create: 1. Comic Strip Panels Dialogue-based scenes between characters Expressive emotions and actions Clear storytelling through visuals 2. Spot Illustrations Small visuals to support vocabulary words Object/scene-based drawings 3. Full-Page Illustrations (Optional) Chapter opening scenes Key storytelling moments Art Style Reference Preferred style: Child-friendly and engaging Bright, colorful, expressive Slightly cartoonish (similar to early reader graphic novels) Clean and not overly cluttered (References: educational comics, early reader illustrated books, light graphic novel style) Key Characters Sam – Curious and observant Kash – Thoughtful and analytical Coach Cassie – Guide and mentor Illustrator will help in character design consistency across chapters. Project Scope Number of chapters: 8–12 (initial phase) Illustrations per chapter: 3–5 comic panels 2–3 spot illustrations Total estimated illustrations: 50–100 Deliverables High-resolution digital illustrations Editable source files (if possible) Print-ready format (300 DPI, CMYK for print) Consistent character design sheets Timeline Initial sample / concept: 1–2 weeks Full project: 6–10 weeks (flexible based on scope) Budget Open to discussion based on: Experience Per illustration / per page pricing Package pricing for full project Why This Project Matters This book is designed to transform how children learn vocabulary—moving from rote memorization to meaningful understanding through stories and visuals.
