Most animators build the character, then go find a voice. I do it backwards. The voice finds the character. Here is why that matters for a 60 second short. Comedy lives on timing, and timing lives on the read. The pause before a punchline, the half second a character holds a look, the breath between two lines. None of that exists until you hear the voice. So I cast first. I run auditions, find the read that makes you grin without any picture, then animate to it. Mouth shapes, beats, the whole rhythm built on a real performance instead of patched in at the end. Then the pipeline you described. Rough animatic for your notes, you sign off, I move to in betweening, color, compositing. Colorful, fluid, cartoony. No explainer energy, no corporate voice. Music and sound FX where it earns its place. MP4 plus source files, Animate, After Effects or Toon Boom, whichever fits the piece. 60 to 90 seconds usually takes two to three weeks from locked script to final render. One question. Is there a moment in your concept where a character says nothing and just reacts? That beat is where a cartoon becomes funny instead of just animated, and it changes how I cast.
