CONTEST BRIEF: Alternative Single Cover Art — NO AI ENTRIES! ABOUT THE ARTIST the band is a Bristol-rooted alt project. A new single is almost ready for release, and we need striking cover art that screams authenticity — something that can also set the visual tone for future single releases. Striking but clean, and iconic THE CONCEPT Must look clean not busy Must look real - realism is important. Must look authentic Must feature an image of a lip/mouth as a central visual element. The logo must be included and clearly legible (we'll supply the logo file to shortlisted entrants / on request). It should feel like a genuine part of the artwork rather than a clean corporate lockup pasted on top. Palette: black, red and white — used in a way that feels rich and considered rather than flat or too "primary." Think deep blacks, off-whites/greys, blood-red or crimson tones rather than pure poster-red — bold and high-contrast, but with enough texture and depth to avoid looking like a basic three-colour flag. Style is wide open: abstract shapes, gritty photo-manipulation, clean minimalism, textured/grunge treatment — whatever best captures a cool, credible alternative-culture vibe. We want to feel underground and real, not major-label gloss or generic stock-photo grunge. Bonus: think beyond this one cover — a strong, distinctive visual system (colour, texture, type treatment) that could extend to future singles will stand out. Other creative angle: What You Waiting For could be written on teeth, or tattooed onto inside of lip but we want to see a variety of options, not 100s of the same variants Can be illustrated as well as an alternative. PRACTICAL DETAILS 3,000 x 3,000 px, 300 dpi — ready for Spotify, Apple Music, etc. Layered source file (PSD or AI) plus a flattened master (PNG/JPG). Two exports required: one with a parental-advisory placeholder, one without. Leave safe-zone guides so track text can be added later. Logo of the band attached Title of the song is WHAT YOU WAITING FOR?

CH, consider this a must-read, you're going to get Many HUNDREDS of entries and most will be AI generated, 99% AI. These scammers paste your brief into an image generator and submit the result within seconds. No effort, no skill, no originality whatsoever. Genuine hand crafted design takes real time and human creativity, and it shows unmistakably in the work. This is why entries will look so alike, AI can only produce what your words describe, with no creative thinking behind it. A skilled human designer brings genuine understanding to your brief in ways AI never can. Watch for rapid multiple entries too, that's an AI pattern. IF IT ALL LOOKS THE SAME, IT'S AI. ALSO PLEASE NOTE!!! AI-generated images carry zero copyright protection, leaving any third party free to replicate the design, which could lead to legal disputes over ownership or usage rights down the line.
