Contest Brief

Hi Everyone,

My wife and me are looking for a design of our apartment.

We have just rented it and it’s being cleanup and painted in white. We would like to walls to be white but are open to making some smaller changes in terms of wall decorations (painting part of the wall in different color or something similar) if they are required by design.

Things that we cannot change are doors, windows, floor and heating radiators. :) Apart from that everything else pretty much free to be designed by you. We have almost no furniture except from my wife’s working table, iMac and chair which should be in the living room. One more thing that should fit in the living rooms are my two floor-standing speakers. (We don’t have TV at the moment but it’s probably the best to design with TV in mind. We will probably going to buy one at some point).

Kitchen: We both like to cook so it’s important for us :) As you can see in the pictures and video it has black tiles on the floor and white on the wall. We would like to keep both. Pretty much because of the budget. We don’t have many special requirements. We need stove with four burners, fridge with freezer probably 160 or 180 in height and dishwasher. (Don’t worry we will also repaint the door)

Dining room: Table of course :) I guess it can only fit one with four (six?) chairs.

Balcony: Something to sit on would be nice.

Living room: Working table (Ikea LINNMON / ADILS - http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S29932181/) with 27’’ iMac and chair. Two speakers - http://www.audiophilia.com/hardware/kestrel.gif. Apart from that it would be useful if some kind of sofa can be also used to sleep on twice a year when we have a guests who stay for few day, two or three.

Hallway: You know the best.

Kids room: baby bad. As you saw that room already has some furniture and we would like to keep it.

Bedroom: Double bad and something to store closes in. No TV.

Because of budget constraints but also since it’s easy to source and move to another apartment it’s probably best that you use Ikea furniture. We like houseplants. For lighting you can use http://www.eglo.com and maybe Philips but they are probably much more expensive so we will have to search for alternative to the philips one that you pick by cheper producer. But we can take care of that alternatice searching.

It would be ideal that final deliverable contains list of furniture including lightning choices.

We are aware that budget is quite limited. You really don't have to spend much energy with spaces other than living-room/dining room and kitchen. One other thing that we can provide in return are before/after picture done with profi camera by our friend. If you find them usefull for your portfolio. Additionally we can promice feedback within few hours.

      Hello, It's around between 2000 and 4000 Eur. It's not likely that we will execute all remodelling in one batch but that doesn't really influences design :)

      Hi, yes bathroom is first door to the left in hallway. No thanks. No need to do anything regarding bathroom. It has been recently renovated by owner and is in good shape. Only washing machine is missing.
