  I do not agree with the fact that samurais do not cross sit when meditating. The meditation originated in Ancient india where people don't sit in seiza style. And meditation is done to calm the mind and body and seiza style of sitting is painful if done for a longer period of time. Monks did meditation for hrs and sometimes days and doing meditation in seiza style was painful when done for longer hrs. Seiza style was a cultural think mostly to improve body posture and a discipline kind of thing. That's why you will never find anyone meditating in seiza style . Even when you google samurai meditating you will find two different styles. Im not denying that samurais didn't meditate on seiza style they did but they also did meditation in Lotus or half lotus form or cross legged style.

  A few tips for those who really want to participate in the competition by doing something themselves and get good results.
  1) Samurai do not sit cross-legged during meditation and rest. They sit on their knees.
  
  2) Hands rest on the knees, body upright, shoulders open, suitable for comfortable deep breathing.
  
  3) If the sword and scabbard are on the samurai's waist, it stands in a pushed back position. The reason for this is that by turning the body at a low angle around the waist, it is possible to reach a position suitable for removing the sword completely from its sheath.
  
  4) In the scene of unsheathing the sword, the fact that the body is facing forward and slightly bent, the shoulders are turned at a slight angle in the direction of the sword adds realism.
  
  5) While holding a hand scabbard, the sword is pulled out by pushing the "Tsuba" (Guard) with the thumb. The other hand holds the sword.
