Contest Brief
I need help to find the right typeface for the name of an initiative. A graphical symbol (see attached PNG file) has already been developed for this initiative, in another Freelancer contest.
The name of the initiative should be possible to write in this typeface standalone or in combination with the symbol. The name + symbol combination does not need to feel like a logo, it is perfectly OK that it feels like a name plus a symbol. But they should look good together.
These are the decided criteria for the typeface:
A. It needs to be modern. (Not necessarily hyper modern, but certainly not antique).
B. It should give a simple impression without too much "unnecessarities". (For example, if it has serifs they need to be quite small).
C. It should give a friendly impression.
D. It needs to be rather subtle, i.e., not steal too much attention. The main message is in the symbol, not in the typeface.
E. It should look reasonably ordinary, not "odd". But still a little special... (yes, I know this is contradictory, a balance is needed)
F. It should be possible to buy for unlimited use, for maximum ~200 USD.
See attached in the PDF file my own attempts, using a couple of very ordinary typefaces. The examples are in brownish colors; please disregard this, the submissions should preferably be in black on white.
The name in the examples, Aslerd, is not the real name, which can't be revealed at this time point. However, the real name also starts with A and ends with D, and is graphically similar to Aslerd (the L is also in the real name), which is why this example has been chosen.
The intention can be to write the typeface in upper case only, or in mixed case (like in my two examples). It is enough for the selected typeface to work in only one of these ways.
A viable submission in this contest should contain the following:
1. The name of the typeface.
2. A bitmap image showing the typeface together with the symbol. (The symbol does not necessarily need to be placed top-right as in my examples, place it where it looks best.)
3. A link to a web page where the typeface can be purchased (or downloaded if it is a free typeface).
Please note that maximum 5 submissions per freelancer will be considered. If more than 5 are entered, the only the 5 newest will be considered.
Please do not spend too much time on this. It is a pretty straightforward thing. Just let me know the 1-5 suggestions that come to your mind or that you find rather quickly.
I understand that there are typeface expert freelancers that could design a unique typeface. However, I have my reasons for wanting an existing typeface this time.
