Design some category icons for my iPhone app

I am building a mobile social bookmarking iPhone app that tracks places you want to go and/or have been. If you've ever used Foursquare, you may be familiar with the category icons that the service used to have alongside various places that are a part of their service. I found those icons to be way more specific than is useful for what i am doing. (Basically, I believe the icons that describe categories of places should "pop" so that they immediately provide the user with information as to what they are looking at.) So, I am seeking a designer to develop an original set of icons that represent the following high-level categories:

1) Restaurants
2) Specialty foods (e.g. ice cream, bakeries)
3) Bars
4) Clubs
5) Coffee shops
6) Retail
7) Lodging (e.g. hotel/motel)
8) Sports & Rec (e.g. tennis courts, golf courses, etc.)
9) Landmarks (e.g. sightseeing)
10) Arts (e.g. theatre, music)
11) Entertainment (a catch-all)
12) Events (for a limited time)
13) Nature (e.g. national parks)

I suspect color should be used to differentiate the categories as well as the contents of the icon, but I will accept grayscale entries as well that can later be color-coded if it makes sense.

Be creative with your style. Given the app design is still underway, here are some words that describe it's personality:

- Sleek (but not shiny)
- Modern (but not futuristic)
- Light (but not stark)
- Novel (but not frilly)
- Bold (but not harsh)

Given I'm designing for iOS 7, icons should take into account Apple iOS Human Interface Guidelines, e.g. appropriate alpha transparency, etc.

Final delivery of files should be in both .PSD and .PNG formats. PNG files should be delivered in the following sizes, by folder: 22 x 22, 44 x 44 and 80 x 80.

Finally, for extra credit (though not required to win the contest), you might consider the fact that users must be able to distinguish between places they have been and places they have not been. This could change the icons somehow to reflect this second level categorization (e.g. a checkmark in the corner of the icon, or something along these lines.) Again, not required to win the contest if you believe that this is not an appropriate way or cannot integrate this into a second set of the icons, but a challenge I will put to you.
