iHound Pty Ltd www.ihound.com.au is in the process of developing a new product which is a personal GPS tracking device. The device (as per the below specifications) will be small, light, waterproof, wearable on the person and mainly used in the outdoors while fishing, hiking, camping, mountain bike riding and all sorts of extreme sports. The design should incorporate our attached logo, be innovative, sporty and new age.

It’s intended use is multi faceted. In one respect it will be used for child and elderly monitoring as well as personal protection etc for people such as a girl on her own walking home from work at night. The other market and potentially the biggest worldwide is outdoor and extreme sports, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, cross country skiing, rock climbing etc etc. In this scenario the design, for lack of better words, needs to be masculine and sporty. If you can imagine a man or a women that risks their life solo free climbing remote cliff faces, would this person wear your design hanging on their buckle or back pack?

Below are the specifications:

Size & shape: It must contain a battery, sim card and PC board so the overall shape cannot be too radical but we also do not want just a square. It must fit into the overall dimensions of 55 mm long by 35 mm wide by 15 mm thick or as close as possible.

Other specs:
Needs to incorporate the iHound Logo
Needs to have a buckle on the back (which does not excessively protrude from the outer case) for a velcro strap to pass through so that it can be worn on the arm or wrist (See attached pictures for example only) or a separate pouch as part of the strap to which the unit would fit into. But would prefer it to be one unit if possible.
It needs a mini usb input for charging with rubber cover to maintain waterproof integrity.
Needs a visible led to indicate power is on and battery charge
Needs to have a corner cut out or some sort of feature so that a carabiner can be attached (See attached pictures for example only)
Colors: Up to you but would prefer the use somewhere of the blue in our logo, maybe a red or orange sos button as well as other colours.
Needs to have a large SOS button on the front of the case no smaller than 20mm in diameter
Needs an on/off button somewhere easily accessible

Will the device need to have a screen or any buttons other then the SOS and ON/OFF? Is this device used to help one guide themselves or is it just a emergency beacon used to call for help hence the SOS button?

  Good question, there is no screen and no other buttons, it is not used to guide yourself it is only an emergency beacon used to call for help. I will however need a mini usb port for charging with a rubber cover to maintain the waterproof integrity.

  Initially it will be okay but eventually it will need to be converted into CAD for manufacturing but we can cross that bridge when we come to it if the design is good enough
