Contest Brief

Background:
Nic's N Cutz is an upscale Barber Shop in the process of moving to a new location and looking for a new logo design.
The current logo is a "Superman" symbol with an "N" in the center instead of an "S". It's a very simple design and there are example files attached.
Please do not simply copy these designs as they were found on Google images and may have copyrights (they are just used here as examples).

Feel free to use your imagination and incorporate other images (sheers, barber pole, etc.) or new stylization to the attached examples. Again, do NOT just incorporate the attached files. Also, you may incorporate the name: Nic's N Cutz into the logo or not. We will give feedback throughout the competition on what we prefer.

Colors:
Owner wishes to use Red and Yellow but is open to other possibilities if you come up with something clever.

File types:
We are hoping to get one .ai (vector) and three .png files in three sizes (small, medium, and large). Also, please include grey-scale images of the logo suitable for both a black or white background.

Update: The owner of the Barber Shop has narrowed down his 4 favorites so far. I have already informed the artists who created those concepts. Do not feel discouraged if you did not get a notification, please feel free to submit new concepts if you wish, before the contest ends. I must say that there were concepts I, as a business owner, preferred over one or two of the choices he made but this particular contest is not up to me. I will be remembering MY favorite artists for future logos, however. Once again, thank you for all your great submissions!

Wow! Really great submissions coming in. Please feel free to offer variations or completely new ideas. The owner of the business is already impressed. Please note, we have not rated a submission as 5 stars yet because we think that a 5 star submission should immediately end the contest and be crowned the winner. We don't want to do that yet. So, please don't be frustrated if we do not rate over 4 stars. If you got a 4-star rating, you are definitely in the running right now. Thank you all for the great concepts you are coming up with!

Just to clarify, the owner wants to keep the "Superman symbol" theme as the basis of the logo at this point but that doesn't mean you cannot change his mind with an alternative, superior design. We will have him review ALL submissions so everyone has a chance at winning.

Very nice design but please be sure to read the contest brief to ensure you understand what it is we are looking for. We will certainly present this to the owner but it does not incorporate any of the elements he requested so we are not sure how he will respond. We will rank entries within 24 hours of submission.
