Design a Logo and a Banner for a Chinese Learning Website

Contest Brief
A logo and a banner will be designed for my website – www.talktochinese.com, its YouTube channel, Facebook page and Google+ page. They provide online video and audio resources for learning modern authentic conversational Mandarin Chinese. Each lesson will be fun, interactive and useful.
Three to four colours will be used in total in the logo and banner, including white. The other colours would be cheerful, modern and gender neutral. Same colours will be used in both the logo and banner. They two should look like a whole set, or may compliment on each other. The patterns and typology will be able to help build up a personal link with viewers (Not cooperate). They do not represent Chinese traditional culture but show inclusiveness of diversity. Hopefully they can contribute to create a relaxing and fun online learning environment. I wouldn’t mind cartoons as long as they don’t look like naïve.

Hi designers, I feel your latest design is closer to what I really want! Thank you. I understand why you wanted to use five starts in the banner/logo but please don't use them because 'Chinese' here don't really refer to nationality but people who speak Chinese.

Hi Sharpartist I like the logos you designed in the banners - three ppl & a woman's side face. But the background colours of banners are dark/deep for me.

I like the combination of colours. Hope it can give a brief idea what I'm looking for. The colours that make people feel relaxed and happy would be nice.

Dear designers, many thanks for your work. Just wanted to clarify a couple of things:
1. The logo is composed of two parts: symbol and text. Please check out the link in my contest brief. It provides several examples of this type of logo. The logo of Pizza Hut is a good example.
2. Please do not use the national flag of China because the content of the website and videos would be fun and relaxed. I hope people would be able to learn something in a relaxing and interesting online environment.
3. I'm not a big fan of red colour. If you are really keen to use it, please use it sparingly. Some muted colours would be lovely.
