Design an app icon / logo for 'Squadapp'.

Squadapp will be available on both Android and iOS.

Below are some points that will help guide your design.

Which industry category does your business falls? What type of products and services do you or your firm provide?

We provide a mobile application that facilitates quick and casual get-togethers for friends. Current group planning apps are too formal and tedious for get-togethers between small friend groups. People usually use messaging platforms like Facebook Messenger, however details often get lost in the chat history, and not everyone follows along with the conversation. This app takes that process and makes it simple.

How do you want to position your brand in the marketplace? Who are the customers you want to reach?

We aim to capture tech savvy users, the kinds that use newer trendy apps. These people would often be using an app such as Snapchat. The demographic is younger,< 35. We find that older than that, the problem no longer resonates as the older demographic is not as dependent on social media, and thus does not experience the inconvenience of trying to plan something on it.

List your competitors here so I know what I am are up against and to help me steer clear of similar names, which could pose trademark conflicts.

We'd like to avoid anything that sounds formal, such as "event" and "planning". We aim to minimize the overhead of getting real-life interactions, and that's a natural process that isn't very formal or structured.
List 5 brand names that you collectively like the style of (and why). Then, list 5 brand names that you collectively dislike the style of (and why).
Twitter, because it's easily verbable
Snapchat, because it feels quick and fast, and is easily verbable
Instagram, because it feels quick and fast
Vine, because it's simple and memorable
Hootsuite, because it makes sense and is memorable
Facebook - Too literally descriptive.
Google - Not hip
Tumblr - Ambiguous spelling when sharing by word of mouth
For an acid test, write how the new name would be used in a sentence.
Let's save time and "_____" this. (either name, or verb easily derived from name)

List anything else you think would be important to the name development.

An important feature of the app is that, while creating an event, everything happens in real-time. If User A adds a poll/vote/option, User B sees that appear immediately. It's meant to be very fast and collaborative, allowing all members of the group to have ownership over the event. We aren't directly competing with Calendar apps, as we are aimed at something much more casual, like a simple lunch outing, movie night inside, etc.
