Kilpailun tehtävänanto

A. BACKGROUND
1. First Logo was an ambigram of the letters R, C, I, L which represents our company initials. The file name is RCIL FIRST LOGO.

2. Second logo was an attempt to modernize the first logo. The rectangular shape was abandoned for a more symmetric square shape; however, we don’t like it. The file name is RCIL CURRENT LOGO.

3. This year, we decided to drop the ambigram and use a dragon/yin-yang combination as a tribute to the company’s Chinese roots. We have come up with an amateur attempt to portray our idea for our logo and we hope that one of you can help us materialize what we see. The file name is 2023 DRAFT RCIL LOGO.

4. E-LIN By RCIL is the brand line of furniture our factory will produce. The file name is PRODUCT LABEL. This will either just be left as a sticker or a metal or plastic label that will be affixed onto surfaces of our products.

5. The company colours are listed below:
a. Black
b. White
c. Green: - RGB (0,255,0) or CMYK (100,0,100,0) or HEX (#00FF00)

B. RULES THAT MUST BE FOLLOWED:
I. Design style should be sufficiently detailed, yet not overly detailed that it gets too “noisy”. The design should be simple, stylish, unique but most of all, iconic.

II. There must be a dragon or dragons and the style of dragon to be used is the Chinese dragon. This is the snake-like version and NOT the beer belly dragons with tiny wings.

III. Number of dragons: At least 1 dragon and above. Do NOT put 4 dragons as 4 is an unlucky number according to Chinese superstition. We think 2 is enough, however you can prove us wrong with your design.

IV. There must be an obvious or subtle yin-yang symbol which the dragons could form or which they could surround as in the other pictures we had considered.

V. The logo should contain ALL company colours.

VI. The shape of the logo is left for you; however, we are currently leaning towards a circular logo as we cannot imagine how it would look. Maybe you can convince us to use another style.

VII. The business registration number should be part of the logo. It should be written as RC1091154.

VIII. Our company was established on the 17th of January 2013. This can be added to the logo (Est. 2013) however it is not a priority like VII above. This should only be added if it is aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

IX. Texture and Complexity: This is left to your discretion. A simple tribal dragon or a complex artwork will be accepted if it appeals to us.

X. Our company name RAYMOND CHEN INDUSTRIES LIMITED or our alias RCIL can be used in the logo or can be left out of it. Maybe the letters can form the dragon or something.

XI. For our product label, we want it almost exactly as it is. “E-Lin” in flowing cursive font. “By RCIL” in Manuscript font plus the 3 stars and sun from the Philippine flag which shall be surrounded by a frame with the words “Made in Nigeria” under the label or inside the label if it may fit. Please see the file PRODUCT LABEL SAMPLE to have an idea of what we want to use the label for mainly. The final design will also be on every company stationery we use from letterheads to envelopes and business cards, etc. The main purpose of this label is to be embossed and attached to products we make.

C. SUMMARY:
At the end of the day, we expect the following: (100 points)
• New and Improved Dragon/Yin-Yang logo for RCIL (90 points)
• New and Improved product label for E-Lin By RCIL (10 points)

If overall winner does not have best design for both requirements, the person we feel who has the best design for the product label will be hired privately and awarded a project for $10. Rankings and comments will be used to show current leaders for as the days progress.

P.S. CONTEST WINNERS WILL BE EXPECTED TO PROVIDE SOURCE FILES LIKE CDR OR AI APART FROM THE JPEG, JPG, OR PNG SUBMISSIONS.

    Hello guys...I've been silent for the last few hours due to work, debating with my co-directors on which designs we like, and this is what we have decided:
    1. There will be a minimum of 3 winners and maximum of 5 winners.
    2. The number of winners shall be decided by YOU designers. Do you want to share with your colleagues, or do you want to keep the glory to yourselves? Each finalist should comment OPTION 1; OPTION 2 or OPTION 3 to decide how many winners there will be. If nobody comments, or if there is a tie, we directors will choose an option randomly via a random picker app.
    3. There is a secret surprise. This will be announced once all designers have commented their prize sharing preference. The options shall be posted individually in the comments. Please vote under this post or the option post that you like. Voting in two places won’t count.

    If you have to copy somebody, copy and make changes. Copying isn't bad. 99% of people here copied of Google. I've only seen @reincalucin and one other artist who sketched the logo by hand before turning it into a vector. Copy, modify and make it yours if you have to copy. Simple.

    UPDATE: Hi guys, sorry i've been slightly overwhelmed with work the past 2 days. 6 days left, lots of great designs, we have seen, and some just a little short. No winner has been selected, however we are keeping tabs on those we think could stand a chance. We will be preparing to select the winner with the following steps.

    1. No new entries will be accepted from Monday.
    2. By Monday, we will reject every entry submitted and ask finalists to submit their renditions.
    3. Instructions will be given to finalists via private message.
    4. Once all finalists post, we will vote and rate the photos using the star system.
    5. Winner will be given 5 stars
    6. If runner up and third place are designs we really like, we are open to speaking privately on acquiring the designs as well at a mutually agreed price via direct hire.
